OPA Conservation Programs in Haldimand County

The Every Kilowatt Counts (EKC) program is a resource with information about programs, services and actions you can take to achieve greater efficiency in your home and business. You’ll also learn about the benefits of energy efficiency.

EKC is brought to you by the Ontario Power Authority. The Ontario Power Authority’s mission is to contribute to the development of a reliable and sustainable electricity system. They do this by promoting conservation and the efficient use of electricity, as well as by ensuring adequate electricity supply from a variety of sources.

The following are some of the energy conservation programs that Haldimand County Hydro will be participating in with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).

- Compact fluorescent lighting

- LED "exit" signs

Electric Water Heating

- Faucet aerator

How does the Power Savings Blitz program work?

Step 1 - We assess your business

An advisor will conduct an assessment of your business and provide a list of recommended energy upgrades to help your business become more energy-efficient.

Step 2 - We identify your options

After the assessment is completed, you can then decide if you want to have a retrofit completed.  Funding of up to $1,000 is provided for the retrofit (including cost of material and labor), with an opportunity for the customer to pay costs over the $1,000 limit. The minimum amount for a free retrofit is $300.

Step 3 - We install and upgrade

A licensed electricity contractor will install your free upgrades with your approval and at your convenience.

What about retrofits over $1000?

The small business owner is NOT obligated to complete upgrades beyond the $1000, however, should they choose to continue with work beyond the $1000 threshold, it is at the business owners’ expense.

Save electricity, save money and help the environment. All in one move.

Call the Power Savings Blitz hotline at 1-877-872-2570 to confirm your eligibility and book a free assessment!
