Call Before You Dig!!

Planting a tree, building a fence, adding an addition, installing a new driveway, call before you dig! Before you start your project, assume that danger lies underground. Start your planning by making a call to Haldimand County Hydro to check for underground electric cable.

When you call we will want to gather some particular information from you.

• What type of project are you doing ?
• When is the work scheduled to take place ?
• How deep will you be digging ?
• Are you doing the work, or a contractor ?
• Specific location of where the work will be taking place
• Digging by machine or by hand ?

One of Haldimand County Hydro trained technicians will ensure that the location is marked and you are left with a drawing of the locate. You may be left with specific direction that includes hand digging a particular section.

It is important that your locates are done in short proximity of when you expect to complete the work. Weather elements can remove markings that identify underground equipment. If your underground project is not completed within 30 days from when the underground locate is completed, you must request another locate. Some charges may apply if a second request is required.

Reporting An Outage

Power outages can be caused by either weather conditions, such as high winds, lightening and ice storms, accidents or sometimes by events that happen outside our service territory. Regardless of the cause, Haldimand County Hydro is committed to working until your power has been restored.

If you experience a hydro outage let us know. It is helpful if you are able to determine if only you are without power, or your neighbour as well. This could help us determine the nature of the problem.

Once a power outage is known, we immediately dispatch a crew to determine the cause and plan the restoration process.
